HIT OF THE GOOD LIFE
By: Mark A. Garcia

I drove a limo for a maniacal man
Make a little bread was the general plan
'Where ya' heading?" was the question I most asked.
When someone asked me back that day was my last.
I drove to Vegas met an old woman there.
Her eyes were wild she had perfect hair.
She cried, "Unhook me from this laughing machine".
"Gotta tell my grandkids that I lost everything"

I told myself I'd meet a good honest man
But the closer I got the deeper I swam.
Tried to get in on the deal of all time
Wound up selling pencils to the weak & the blind.

I need a hit of the good life, baby.
Lookin' for that good life.
I need a hit of the good life, baby.
Just give me some; good life.

Worked a convenience store in the middle of town
Used to practice hard trying hard not to frown
"Can I help you?" was the question I asked most.
When someone asked it back I was gone like a ghost.
I had a dream about a desperate woman.
It didn't register it was all in her hands.
She hopped a freight train for foreign soil,
Met a man there who was beautiful yet loyal.

You pick a number then you pray that you win.
You pick a future that you'd like to live in.
You keep 'em in a drawer in the corner of your room.
Just another thing you'll get around too soon.

I need a hit of the good life, baby
Lookin' for that good life
I need a hit of the good life, baby
Just give me some; good life.

I used to be Daddy's little girl; now I'm the movie of the week.
I could have inherited the earth; but I settled for a piece.
I used to sing in the choir of the newly reborn.
Now I'm sweating in this cold tomb, silent & torn.

You pick a number then you pray that you win
You pick a future that you'd like to live in.
You keep it in a drawer in the corner of your womb.
One is your hope the other your ruin.

I drove a limo for a maniacal man
"Take em where they wanna go" was the generals' command.
"Where ya' headed?" was the question I most asked.
When someone asked me back that day was my last.

I need a hit of the good life, baby.
Lookin' for that good good life.
I need a hit of the good life, baby.
Lookin' for that good good life.

I need a hit of  the good life, baby.
Lookin' for that good good life.
I need a hit of  the good life, baby.
Just give me some; Good life!
